Although I was aware of Chip's having passed away some years ago, I discovered this page only today.
Chip's website was (and fortunately, still continues to be) an amazing source of help and inspiration. I have used it many times in the past, and regularly recommend it to other Excel users.

I have only just learned that Mr Pearson passed away some years ago. My sincere condolences to his friends and family. Like many of you, I have used his site hundreds if not thousands of times to help me get my arrays in shape, little knowing that this was his gift to me in death. Many thanks, Mr Pearson. You have helped me and innumerable others. Rest in peace.

When I was writing Excel VBA code on a consistent basis, the first thing I would look at when I arrived at my desk would be the Pearson Software Consulting site. Whether I would be maintaining legacy code or writing VB NET or needed to review something about classes and objects(I think ought the idea) or whatever it was, I could always find some outstanding, clear, efficient code that would help make my day a little easier. Multiply that by a few thousand and then you get an idea of how much Chip´s site helped me in my career. I doubt there is anyone who I never talked to or never met in person that helped me as much as Chip did with my career. I´m late to this news because I retired in 2016(comfortably I might add, thanks to Chip) and since then between Covid and some stage 4 cancer issues, I´m just getting into my life again. Anyway, I salute Chip for his generosity of sharing his wealth of knowledge with others. The Excel world has lost one of the greats !

oh man... I just found this webpage. I can't express the sadness I feel right now. This is huge surprise to me. I didnt know Chip personally but I got to know him over 2 decades. He is a wealth of knowledge and immensely talented. He along with others in the community were highly valued and enormously respected. He was valuable, and great asset and resource, and I considered him a dear collogue. It would always brighten my day when I came across his name or site in research or quest for answers online in knowledgebases, forums and references in conducting my research and posts. I'm sure he is missed greatly. I'm so sorry to hear of this news. I will miss him.

My sincerest condolences. Chip's website helped me develop my Excel and VBA skills so immensely 15 years ago, that I credit him the most in turning my interest in Excel into a fruitful career that enabled me to buy a house and live a comfortable life. I never met him, but his impact on my life cannot be understated.

The value of Chip's sharing his knowledge on his site is inestimable. I wish I could've known Chip personally, but I am certainly familiar with his his efforts and expertise. These years later, this knowledge continues to benefit those of us who build solutions that make work easier, every day. Please accept my condolence (to his family), and to say "thank you" to them, and to any others who are participating in the site upkeep. It has helped me and countless others.

I've visited many times for help to the website Mr Chip created in the past ten plus years. It is a tremendous resource of help and hope when I just started learning VBA. I still come back to his site for help even now. I just learned Chip's death. I was saddened to hear of his death. My most sincere condolences to his parents and friends even though it is several years after.

I have been away from the on-line Excel community for a while, and just now learned of Chip's death. My most sincere condolences to his parents and friends, even though several months too late. Most of us came to know Chip only on-line - besides his incredible talent, he was so generous with his time and skill. His website remains both a tremendous resource and a testament to his willingness to make so much expertise available to anyone who needed it.
Our community is sadly diminished by his passing.

Coming back to programming VBA I naturally looked up Chip's site knowing that it was the best there is and that it had saved me 1000s of hours of toil (and terror!). I was greatly saddened to hear of his death and while I never met Chip I was aware of his huge popularity and his seemingly selfless dedication to making our lives much (much) easier.
Many people have contributed to saving the site and his work and I am grateful to them including his parents who let the site be used in it's entirity. RIP Chip (from a very grateful but very average programmer)

Definitely Chip was a professional tooo valuable! The guy who led me to acquire all the expertise in Excel and all the name and respect I earned within my colleagues was because of him and John Walkenbach! Today leading me to check out his website after a long time disclosed the fact of his leaving this world!
Truly a Loss!!!
May his Soul be forgiven and be bestowed peace!!!
I miss you today Chip!!!

Today I found out that the Chips website is offline and that Chip died in 2018. I am very sad about that ... car accident ... terrible ...
I had problems with VBA and Excel in 2009 and in those days I found the Chip Pearson website on the internet. The information and tricks he explained helped me in solving complex problems in my daily work.
I hope you will rest in peace somewhere ...

Like so many other contributors, I was so grateful for the clear and often humorous advice which Chip kindly made available on his website. It was my go-to source for about 20 years and so, despite never having had the benefit of communicating with him directly, it was terribly sad to hear of his tragic death.
Sincere condolences to those close to him; may his legacy be a blessing and comfort to you all.
Hopefully, his incredible body of work will continue to be available for future generations to benefit from his kindness and expertise.

Oh my gosh. I just saw this today. I am so very sorry for the family. I came across Chips Excel page in 1999. I learned so much from him which helped further my career. What a tragic loss. He even personally answered a few questions for me via email.
I'm just heartbroken. Although it may sound cliche, but it seems true. "Only the good die young".
Rest in Peace Chip

RIP Chip Pearson, Excel Guru and Microsoft MVP
Your selfless expression and passion for sharing invaluable answers to questions which vexed many self educated Excel users should not be underestimated.
Having never met you personally, I viewed your site countless times to assist me in solving so many excel based problems.
The debt of gratitude to you is hard to quantify but through your efforts I obtained a competitive edge through a particular career period for which I remain eternally grateful.
Bless all of those you left behind - especially your parents; all of those who remain here and who like me are indebted to your efforts and your website, and especially to all of those who seek to emulate your example by sharing their knowledge with and for others.

I just learned of Chip Pearson's passing. I never met him, not even through e-mail. My only knowledge of him is through his web pages, which I visited innumerable times over the past couple of decades. In all his writings he comes across as a generous, kind person, even though he's just talking about Excel programming. He will be missed by so many people that he didn't even know about.
We all strive to leave a legacy for when it's our turn to go. Chip has succeeded far better than most. His web pages will continue to be invaluable help to many for a long time.
Thank you, Chip! I hope you are receiving your well-earned rewards for what you accomplished in life.

I relied on Chip's coding advice when I was first getting started learning Visual Basic. His advice went way beyond VBA; he always went the extra mile to help us understand the surrounding context - above, below, and to all sides. This is the mark of an excellent, not average, developer. Most importantly, Chip was a gracious and kind personality, somewhat rare in the I.T. world. His ego never got ahead of his generosity and humility.
To Chip's family; I'm so terribly sorry for your loss. My God grant you the peace and comfort you need during these times.

Mr and Mrs Pearson.
Im so very sorry for your loss and I am deeply saddened about Chip. My memories of Chip were so very fond in Troop 66 as Chip was a great kid and Boy Scout. Quiet and kind is how I remember Chip. When I was in the senior patrol, I never had to worry about Chip at scout camp or at the church. He always was in the right place doing the right thing. He was loved by all the scouts. Im so proud he made Eagle Scout. May his spirt soar high among the eagles as he now watches over us.
Respectfully,
Kevin.
