You don't know me ... but I was a friend of John while I was at KU. We jammed together once in a while.
I savor those memories and wish I had stayed in contact with John while I live in KC. He was a great guy.
I came across his name while checking the Kansas Music Hall of Fame of which he was very much deserving membership.
Sorry for your loss.

The video gallery of John reminds me of the classmate I recall so fondly as a kind, compassionate man who was sincerely interested in all who knew him. He certainly helped me when I was in great need. Thanks John.

John was my high school classmate. We reconnected at our 25th class reunion and periodically stayed in touch. He was a sweet, kind and gentle man who made me smile. I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with Beth, his children and grandchildren.

John was one of my favorite classmates in high school. We were always going to get together and reminise, but never did. I am sure that he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

I remember at a very young age taking a train ride to visit Grandma Malone when she lived in Lawrence, Kansas. While there, Uncle John (who was in a band at that time) brought out his accordion and expertly played a tune for us. I thought that was just the neatest thing I had ever seen. I was in awe that something so clunky looking could produce such a beautiful sound. The small amount of time I spent with him helped open the door to my love for music. Never underestimate the little things. He will be remembered.
