One weekend Eliot gave me a telephone call and asked if we could take a drive in the country. I had no idea how serious his illness had become, but having no pressing issues, I said I'd be glad to. For years Eliot had been a good friend and a great supporter of the Shawnee Mission schools. We worked closely together on many projects dealing with international relations. He provided speakers and resources for many programs in the field of social studies. I was pleased he called and asked for a drive around the countryside. I had a convertable and it was a lovely day. Eliot got in the rear seat and with the top down we drove around for several hours. It was a pleasant experience for us both. I was happy to do it, we both enjoyed it and it was quite different from the pressure and time constraints we experienced in our usual relations.

I will always remember Eliot singing every morning, and all of the little pet names he gave me....like Gatsby, because of what I was reading at the time. A truly remarkable man, fascinating mind, and a heart of gold. You will be missed!!!!!!!
