JOHN DALY Obituary

Services for John Patrick Daly, 40, Lawrence, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial with military honors conducted by the US Navy and American Legion, Dorsey- Liberty Post #14 will be at Reno Cemetery. Mr. Daly was born June 19, 1971 in Merriam, KS, the son of Edward Eugene and Debra Kay Rocker Daly. He graduated from South Harrison High in 1989. John served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years, a veteran of the Gulf War. He worked as a Correction's Officer and Law Enforcement Officer in various Kansas communities. He married Lacey Will on Sept. 25, 2010 in Tonganoxie, she survives of the home. Other survivors include, a son, Kyle and daughter, Hope of Denver, Colorado; a son, Jerrod of Kansas City, MO; son, Ty, and daughter, Malena both of Lawrence. He is also survived by his mother, Debra Kay and step-father, Charles Steven Snider of Pattonsburg, MO., a sister, Angela and husband Kyle Cullifer, of Macon, MO., a brother, Jason and wife Tonia Daly, of Chillicothe, MO., a sister, Shannon and husband Carl Templeton, of Alma, MO., and a sister, Stephanie and husband Chuck Litherbury, of Durango, CO. and eighteen nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his father and maternal and paternal grandparents. John died September 7, 2011. Friends may call from noon until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family suggests memorials be made to the John Patrick Daly Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home. I had the privelage of serving with John on the USS Shasta in the gulf. He and I became friends both being from Missouri. John and I lost touch after 93, until we ran into each other 5 years ago in Plattsburg. I am sorry for your loss, John was a great man. Rip brother.
