RONALD THOMPSON Obituary

Ronald Dean Thompson, Jr., 52, of De Soto, KS, passed away May 27, 2012. Memorial service 6 p.m. Sun., June 3, at De Soto Baptist Church, 8655 Church, De Soto, KS 66018. There will be a gathering after the service at Tippin T Ranch. Visit: 4-6 p.m. before the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ron Thompson, Jr., Memorial Fund at FCB Bank, 33485 Lexington Ave., De Soto, KS. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com Arr: Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Ron was born Dec. 1, 1959, in Kansas City, KS, to Ronald D. and Margaret F. (Thomas) Thompson. He grew up in De Soto and was a life-long area resident. Ron graduated from De Soto High School in 1977. Ron was a self-employed professional welder and truck driver. He owned Ron's Welding and Tippin T Ranch in De Soto. He was a member of the De Soto Baptist Church and the Missouri Draft Horse Assoc. His passion was draft horse pulling, and he participated in Missouri and Kansas sanctioned pulls. He also enjoyed farming, hunting and boating. Ron is survived by his wife of 25 years, Coleen (Randel) Thompson; children, Stacy Thompson, Olathe, KS, Shauna and George Surls, Baldwin City, KS, Kasey Del and Devin Hanney, Abilene, KS, Justin (JT) Thompson, De Soto, KS; his parents Ronald and Margaret of Clermont, FL; siblings, Teresa and Greg Scharff, Eudora, KS and Alex and Tari Thompson, De Soto, KS, and his beloved grandchildren, Aeriel, Ryan, Shane and Shana; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends and family will miss him dearly.
