WAYLON GREENE Obituary

Waylon Ryan Greene, or "Waydog" as he was known to his family and friends, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2011. Waylon was born on February 22, 1999 and spent his life in Lee's Summit, MO. A 7th grader at Bernard Campbell Middle School, Waylon was a part of the school wrestling team, made good grades and has played football for the Lee's Summit Parks and Rec. As most kids his age can attest, he had a profound love and talent for video games. But he also had a knack for helping repair stuff around the house. Hip Hop and Jazz dance were his favorite hobby. His love of dance resulted in 5 years spent in a competitive dance company at a local dance studio in his hometown. However, Waylon's biggest accomplishment in his young life was his ability to touch the heart of every person that he met. Waylon was preceded in death by his grandmother, Shirley Thornton. His survivors include his mother, Sheri Gibson and his stepfather James, his three older brothers - Colby Thornton, Dalton Thornton, and Chace Greene, his grandfather, Steve Thornton, his maternal great-grandmother, Anita Thornton, and his father, Richard Smith. There are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as his many friends and his dance studio family. The visitation will be held Tuesday, November 22 from 5:00 to 7:00 at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit. The Memorial Service will be at the First Baptist Church of Lee's Summit on Wednesday, November 23 at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid for eternal rest in the Historic Lee's Summit Cemetery following the Memorial Service. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Waylon Greene Memorial Fund at the Bank of Lee's Summit. "When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure." Waylon, we treasure the time we had with you and we will love you forever. AKB Arrangements by Langsford Funeral Home, 115 W 3rd Street, Lee's Summit, MO 64063.

Hey Waylon, I've been thinking about you a lot recently. I know we weren't in touch too much before you passed away, but I just wanted to let you know that I will always love you! You were apart of this family! I remember going to the beach with you when it was your first time ever, or going with you to New York City, or even Disney World. I know how much that meant to you and it meant a lot to us, too. We all miss you, especially Angel, who is still the crazy dog she was when you lived with us. We still have your picture up on the wall, where is has hung for 5 years and it will remain there for I don't know how long! Bianca goes to visit you a lot, she is still taking it pretty hard, as all of us are. We all love you and miss you so much. I wish you were still here with us, but now you are with God, which is the best place you will ever be! Love you so much and can't wait to see you.

Hey Waylon, it's me Lauryn from Meadow Lane and BCMS. I know we weren't BFFs or anything like that, but I still think I should at least write something. Everyone misses you tons, but when a person is that great, they have no choice but to grieve. You and your family are still in my thoughts and prayers and you will be for as long as I live. Everyone knows that you are in heaven watching over us. Maybe one day I'll see you again in heaven, but until then, this guest book will have to do. Missing you lots...

Hey Waylon, it's me Lauryn from Meadow Lane and BCMS. I know I wasn't your best friend, but I thought writing in this was the least I could do. Everyone's been sad and all, but we all know that you are up in heaven watching over us. Your family is still in my thoughts and prayers and I still think about how great of a person you are. Maybe we will see each other again in heaven... - Until then, Lauryn Wayne

Waylon,
Buddy, you don't even know how much we all miss you. I miss seeing you in the halls at school and in SSR.but I now know that you are in a better place and that you are with god. I sometime ask god why he had to take you but I know that he chose you because he knew that he need your help up there. Every night I ask god to protect you&your family. I also go to your grave every once in a while. And I sit there talking to you because I know that you are there listening to me.,well I miss you&love you! Talk to you very soon.
