FRANCES BOOTH Obituary

FRANCES MARIAN (HURST) BOOTH Frances Booth of Indep., MO, died Thurs., December 26, 2013 at home. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 2 p.m. Sat., Feb.1, 2014 at Open Arms Community of Christ, 1021 W. College St., Indep., MO 64050. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Outreach International or Community of Christ Dome & Spire Organ Foundation. Frances was born July 31, 1923, in Chicago, IL to Ray and Mollie (Heerlein) Hurst. She received her Master's Degree in Education and taught in public schools in Washington DC, then Virginia for over 30 years. She took lifelong pleasure in playing piano and organ, writing hymns and poetry, and taught writing classes in her 80's. She was a member of the Community of Christ, in Prescott and Phoenix, AZ, supporter of Outreach International, Kids Bible Club in Jonesboro, AR, & Graceland U. She is survived by nieces and nephews of three generations of Booths, and nieces Linda Daily and Carol Steede Spaulding, great-niece Julie (Birks) Shaw, great-nephews Ryan Birks and Stephen Daily, and great-great niece Joscelyn Shaw. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd L. Booth in 1990 and her sister, Helen Steede.
