RODNEY WUTHNOW Obituary

Rod Wuthnow, DDS, passed away at KC Hospice House on Jan. 22, 2015. A private Celebration of Life/Memorial will be held Spring 2015. Rod was born June 12, 1925 in his beloved home town of Hope, Kansas. He was a member of a class of 33 graduates in 1943 and always returned to high school reunions every two years. To serve his country he joined the Navy and became a Naval Air Cadet to serve in WWII. He left the service after his training and went to the University of Kansas receiving a degree in Biology and Marketing. He married Alma Robison in 1946. He became a lifelong Jayhawk fan. After graduating from KU he went to Kansas City Kansas School of Mortuary Science and became a Funeral Director. In Hope he joined his father in owning and operating both the Wuthnow Funeral Home and Wuthnow Furniture Store. He then switched careers and attended UM-KC School of Dentistry receiving his dental degree in 1961. He subsequently enjoyed a rich and rewarding career as a highly esteemed dentist in both Overland Park and Stanley, KS until his retirement in 1994. He loved his patients and enjoyed doing dentistry for those who were needy and couldn't afford taking care of their teeth. He is survived by his wife, Diane, his daughter Terri Boyle and her husband Ed of Mission Hills, KS, his son John of Longview, TX, grandson Patrick Ladd, wife Mindy, and great grandsons Ryan and Logan of Topeka, KS, grandson Kevin Ladd, wife Griffin and great-grandson William of Denver, CO, and brothers Alan Wuthnow of Mill Valley, CA, and Skip Fisher of Sunbury, Australia. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Overland Park Kansas Arboretum or Wayside Waifs of Kansas City. ARA Cremations

Di: Dr. Wuthnow was my Dentist many years.Moved to OP from Dallas. This is when he had an office, off of Metcalf St. and my office was across the hall. We both had a laugh when he told me he was a Funeral Director(in the past) as I was raised in the funeral business in TX. He was not only an excellent Dentist but a great and sincere person. May he rest in peace and God Bless U and your family...
