Carol Mahoney Obituary

Died: May 7, 2011; in St. Charles

Carol Jean Mahoney (nee Burmeister) at rest Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Rosewood Care Center in St. Charles.

Born in Morris on Nov. 3, 1923, to the late Everett and Mary Ann (nee Teaser) Burmeister, she was a resident of Joliet for 51 years until relocating to West Chicago in 2000.

A retired secretary for Joliet Township High School. Member of the former Ottawa Street Methodist Church (Grace United Methodist), serving her church as a member of the Women's Circle and a Sunday school teacher. Member of the Ladies of the Moose and the Ladies Auxiliary of Cantigny Post VFW #367. An avid gardener, and she loved to sew.

Surviving are her three sons, Michael (Betty Jean) of Joliet and Dennis E. (Joye) and Steve Mahoney, both of St. Charles; and three grandchildren, Randy (Lisa), Melissa and Kindel Mahoney.

Preceded in death by her husband, Daniel A. Mahoney (1976); parents; and one sister, Leota Burmeister.

Funeral services for Carol Jean Mahoney will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011, at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Michael Hickok officiating. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Morris. Memorials in her name to the National Kidney Foundation would be appreciated. Visitation on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Road, Joliet.
