Genevieve Rudd Obituary

Born: Jan. 9, 1924, in Chicago
Died: May 20, 2011; in Naperville

NAPERVILLE – Genevieve Mary Rudd passed away peacefully on May 20, 2011, of natural causes, at Meadowbrook Manor Nursing Home in Naperville.

Born in Chicago to Polish immigrants, Lukas and Veronica Dzieciatkowski, she worked in the small grocery store they owned and sometimes rode in the truck when her father delivered ice or wood in their delivery business. Genevieve was one of five children. She had two older brothers and two younger sisters, all of whom predeceased her. She graduated from Kelly High School in Chicago, and during World War II, worked in an airplane factory.

After the war, she worked as a secretary at Pit and Quarry magazine in Chicago, where she met and married Robert L. Rudd. They moved to Geneva in 1952, and had six children together. After the children were older, Genevieve worked at Houghton Mifflin Co., Howell Co., Fermilab, and Miner Company. Genevieve lived in Geneva for over 20 years. She was divorced later in life and moved to Batavia.

She took up square dancing and made all her dresses and many petticoats. She also attended Waubonsee Community College and took many business and fine arts classes. She joined Toastmasters and enjoyed it thoroughly. She always had a love of learning and was an avid reader.

Genevieve was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings; her ex-husband, Robert L. Rudd; and her daughter, Dianne M. Rudd.

She is survived by her daughters, Rori Tucker of St. Cloud, Minn., Connie and her husband Don Ruehrwein of Batavia, Mary and her husband Steve Wheeler of Phoenix, Ariz., and Margie and her husband Bob Lebel of Virginia Beach, Va.; and her son, Robert and his wife Peggy (Offutt) Rudd of Wheaton. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Tucker, Tom Wheeler, Carl Rudd, Philip Rudd, Emily Rudd, Marie Rudd and Lydia Rudd.

She was loved very much by all her children and will be very much missed.
