Franklin resident, 78

FRANKLIN - Val Jean Johnson, 78, of Franklin died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, in Franklin.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Naponee Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Duane Lauber officiating. Burial will be at Naponee City Cemetery.

Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

She was born March 30, 1930, in Naponee to Otto and Christina (Loschen) Bauerle.

On Dec. 27, 1948, she married Delton Johnson. He died June 28, 1985.

Survivors include her brother-in-law, Arnold Johnson of Franklin; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

She attended Naponee Public School and graduated in 1947.

She and her husband moved from their home in Franklin to the farm north of Naponee in 1955. She worked at the Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service in Franklin and retired in 1985 after 32 years of service.

In her retirement, she continued to enjoy life on her farm and her family and friends. She was a caregiver for her sister, Mary Ann, in Texas.

She enjoyed china painting, traveling and church activities, especially singing in the choir. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church, Hicks-Siegel Legion Auxiliary 364 and the Naponee Booster Club.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Ann Smith.

Memorials are suggested to Naponee Wesleyan Church or American Arthritis Association.
