Dennis Northem Obituary

Dennis L. Northern, Sr.

1952 - 2015

Dennis L. Northern, Sr., 62, of Kenosha, died at his residence on Sunday, April 12, 2015.

Born in Indiantown Gap, Pa., on April 19, 1952, he was the son of the late James and Florence (Baughman) Northern.

From May 28, 1969, until his honorable discharge on Dec. 23, 1971, Dennis served in the U.S. Army.

He received his Associates Degree in Business from the College of Lake County.

On Aug. 5, 1989, at Grace Lutheran Church, he was united in marriage to Diane Guttormsen.

Along with his wife, Dennis owned and operated Northern Lights in Kenosha.

He was an avid Chicago Bear fan and a fantasy football legend. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing. Dennis loved his family and he had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He was very proud of each of them and always made sure he was there to support them or root them on in their many activities. Many will remember Dennis for his keen sense of humor.

He will be remembered by his loving wife of 25 years, Diane Northern; his three sons, Chris (Jennifer) Northern of Genoa City, Dennis (Rachel) Northern, Jr. of Richmond, Ill., and John (Gena) Northern of Clyde, N.C.; his brother, "Kenny" (Linda) Northern of Springfield, Ohio; his sister, Georgeanna (Chuck) Lee of Mukwonago; and his grandchildren, Travis, Noah, Madeleine, Hunter, Madison and Isabelle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Northern; and his father and mother-in-law, Earl and Lou Guttormsen.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery. A visitation for Dennis will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, April 19, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.

The family would like to thank Dr. James Santarelli, Dr. Syed Haider and all the angels at Aurora Cancer Center for the exceptional care and concern they provided.
