Nancy Markland Obituary

CARLISLE - Nancy B. Markland, 98, widow of Conner Markland passed away Friday at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home. She was born Nov 22, 1911 in Bath Co. to the late John & Matilda Garner Robinson. She was a former employee of Giffin Manufacturing and was a lifetime member of Moorefield Christian Church. Survivors include 2 sons, Thrashley (Betty) Markland and Donald (Patricia) Markland, a daughter, Marian (late -Talmage) Hatton, a sister, Margaret (late-Howard) Ring, 9 grandchildren Rodney, Gerald and Michael Hatton, Thrashley, Jr., Donald, Jr. and Patrick Markland, Connie Hinton, Tammy Phillips and Regina Purvis all of Carlisle. Also surviving are 18 great-grandchildren, a great-great grandson and a special friend Bertha Baker. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Ewell, Eugene, Virgil and Bill Robinson and 2 sisters, Cleora Mae Peters and Mary Brierly and a special friend Anna Kearns. Services will be 2pm Mon at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Gaylord Gillispie. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery. Casketbearers will be grandsons. Visitation will be after 5pm today. Contributions suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or Moorefield Christian Church. Condolences and video tribute at www.mathersgaunce.com
