Nancy B. Markland

CARLISLE - Nancy B. Markland, 98, widow of Conner Markland passed away Friday at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home. She was born Nov 22, 1911 in Bath Co. to the late John & Matilda Garner Robinson. She was a former employee of Giffin Manufacturing and was a lifetime member of Moorefield Christian Church. Survivors include 2 sons, Thrashley (Betty) Markland and Donald (Patricia) Markland, a daughter, Marian (late -Talmage) Hatton, a sister, Margaret (late-Howard) Ring, 9 grandchildren Rodney, Gerald and Michael Hatton, Thrashley, Jr., Donald, Jr. and Patrick Markland, Connie Hinton, Tammy Phillips and Regina Purvis all of Carlisle. Also surviving are 18 great-grandchildren, a great-great grandson and a special friend Bertha Baker. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Ewell, Eugene, Virgil and Bill Robinson and 2 sisters, Cleora Mae Peters and Mary Brierly and a special friend Anna Kearns. Services will be 2pm Mon at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Gaylord Gillispie. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery. Casketbearers will be grandsons. Visitation will be after 5pm today.
