Strange, but I am just finding out on someone's FaceBook page, that Janet had passed back in November 2012, when I was moving doing that time and did not have access to the news or have my tv or computer hooked up. I am totally shocked! I am sending late condolences to her family today and also paying tribute to one of the finest and classiest women that ever lived. Janet will be sorely missed in this community. I had gotten so accustomed to seeing her and chatting with her during so many community evens such as the Roots Festival, as well as always looked forward to purchasing jewelry and other items from her! Her conversations were always so stimulating and fun! Such a pleasant and wonderful woman! I know that God welcomed her home to be one of His angels, and she is now receiving eternal rest from all her labors and works! I am very saddened to find this out today. Janet will always be remembered with the fondest thoughts! Farewell, sister!

And to him/her that endureth to the end...To Carl and the family of the lovely Sis. Janet, I extend my deepest condolences in her homegoing. I pray for your strength and comfort during this "temporary" separation from Janet, for we know that she loved the Lord and we will see her again. Carl, I remember how excited you were when you shared the story of your proposal to this fine lady and how her face beamed when we spoke about you at her business. It was written all over both your faces how much you loved one another. You honored your wedding vows and blessed each other until death took her from this earth but not your heart. God knew she was tired and surely God knows best, so He bid her to come on home and get her rest. Keep on allowing God to order your steps and you will make it through.
Always in Christ,

To Mary, Antoine, and the rest of the Lewis/Givens Family: My family, the Miller/Wilson family - my brother's were the Hawk Brother Twins, Ronald & Rodney - lived across the street from you all during our childhood on Jefferson St. I remember the Lewis family parents as well as all the sisters and your brother. Mary would come over and play the game of Jacks with us (and she was GOOD!!!!), and Antoine was good friends with my younger brother, Stafford ('Baby Bro'). I remember De-De and Everett as well but they were a bit younger. Our condolences goes out to your entire family in the loss of Janet and also in the previous passing of your brother Willie. Wishing God's Blessings and peace to you all. Sincerely, Alesia Miller & the rest of the Miller family (Ms. Sarah, Valerie and Stafford).

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Janet's passing, She and I were friends from Jefferson Street. To the family I know this ia a great loss, but keep in mind, 2 Cor. 5:8 to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Sometimes when death comes we get angry with God, but don't be angry, and it's ok to be sad, and even cry, keep in mind that Jesus wept, but then reflect back over the years God allowed you to share with such a beautiful person. My prayers will continually be with the family.

November 20, 2012

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
