Terrell FALKNER Obituary

FALKNER Terrell M. Sr (Ted), 86, husband of Neita Latimer Falkner for 64 years, died Oct 25, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital Hospice Center after a long illness. Born Aug 9, 1924 in Pleasant Hill, MS, he was the son of Oscar and Lillian Falkner. He was a 1942 graduate of Horn Lake, MS High School. As a Marine, he participated in three landings during World War II in the Pacific-Bougainville, Guam, and Iwo Jima. He received a citation for his efforts on Iwo Jima. Upon discharge, he attended and received a BS degree in Agriculture from the University of Tennessee. He was a teacher, farm equipment business manager, and the love of his life--a dairy and grain farmer. After forty years in Louisville, KY, he moved to Lexington, KY where the joys of his life were his family and gardening. He is survived by his loving wife, Neita, his two children, Clair Detraz (husband Gary and grandchildren Meg and Doug) of Lexington, KY and Terrell Falkner, Jr. (wife Pam Pollard Falkner) of West Memphis, AR. He leaves one brother, Lamar Falkner of Boston, MA and three siblings have preceded him in death, Jim Ella McGauhay, Inez Stewart, and Clifton Falkner of Pleasant Hill, MS. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke United Methodist Church at 2351 Alumni Drive, Lexington, KY at 11am Thu, Oct 28th followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. The service will be conducted by Reverend Lowell Langefeld. Honorary pallbearers include George Clore, Jeffrey Dembo, Zack Dembo, Elden DuRand, Robert Jones, and Clayton Stoess, Sr. It is suggested that any memorial gifts or donations be given to St. Luke United Methodist Church Building Fund or Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. is in charge of arrangements.
