Kenneth SMITH Obituary

SMITH Kenneth Cecil, formerly of Morehead and Lexington, KY was fatally injured in a motorcycle/car accident in Winston-Salem, NC on Dec 2, 2010. He was born in Lexington, KY on Jan 30, 1955 to Dr. Patty Rai Smith Butterfield and the late, Dr. John Kenneth Smith. His wife, Frankie Jo, died on Dec 17, 2009. In addition to his mother, surviving are step-father, Dr. Gordon Butterfield; sister, Leslie Smith (Michael) McGuire of Mandeville, LA; nephews, Nicholas Tyler (Rebecca) McGuire and Michael Andrew McGuire; great-niece, Lily Jane McGuire, all of Covington, LA and mother-in-law, Janet Lambert of Morehead. Canine survivors who he gave loving care are Missy, Rockford, Nickie, Maverick and Bentley, all homeless until they found him. Preceding him in death, in addition to his wife, were grandparents, Grace and Cecil Hunt and Gladys and Fayette Smith, and aunt, Justine (John Bill) Trivette. Ken, sometimes known as Kenny to friends, and Frankie had lived in Winston-Salem for nineteen years. He had been a member of the Morehead Christian Church and was a very active member of New Hope Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. He was a past-president of the Winston-Salem Christian Motorcyclists Association and was always available for charitable activities to benefit those in need. Ken was a true Good Samaritan. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Humane Society or a favorite charity. Funeral services will be 11:30am Wed at Milward-Southland with burial in Lexington Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8pm today. A memorial service will be held in Winston-Salem later in the week. www.milwardfuneral.com
