It has been a little under 13 years, and I still have not found one dermatologist as good as Dr. Martha. She was so nice and understanding of silly questions and always treated people kindly. I know that her kids are all grown now, but I just wanted to say your mother was irreplaceable to a lot of people from the looks of all these tributes to her. I still think of her quite often and think that the world is missing a great person.

Martha was in my class at St. John's College. Everything reported here is true about her, she was the soul of kindness. I just learned of her tragic death today, so many years later. Senior year I was in language tutorial with her [French] when the translating of Flaubert rolled around to her. She did such an excellent piece of it, that Mr. Darkey remarked "Ms. Post, you sound like a Frenchwoman struggling with English". She was perfect. I miss her, and will fondly remember her beauty and fineness. I wish her family peace in the memory of her.

I learned of Martha's death from a simple entry the the St. John's College alumni quarterly a few years back. That was before I learned about web resources. I'd not learned about the circumstances of her death until this evening, and it is devastating to me. I knew Martha at the College in Santa Fé. as one of the sweetest souls on campus. That shines through in her portrait here.
I knew of some of her post-college struggles and sorrows, and often thought of writing, but did not. That has served as a lesson for me to reach out to other schoolmates and "long lost" friends, so that they don't remain lost. Rest in peace, dear Martha.

To Bob and Family,
Just today while attending a medical meeting in FL I happened to meet an Internist from Lexington Ky and I asked him if he by chance knew my friends Bob and Martha, both of whom I trained with at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit from 1985-1987. It was only then that I learned of Martha's tragic demise and the resultant grief of her family. Words can't express the shock and sadness in my heart. It was only yesterday that a group of us residents drove down from Detroit to attend your wedding and I still remember the parties we had together after finishing each monthly rotation in the hospital. I'm so sorry that we lost track of each other and this is how we reunite. My most heartfelt condolences to all. Via con Dios Martha....

her friends at St John's dedicated a plaque to her this last year with the following quote from Phillipians 4:8
"whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

It is impossible to believe that Dr. Post has been gone from among us for four years. She was a wonderful person and an excellent physician, one of the most dedicated doctors I've ever met. I still miss her, and wonder often how her family has dealt with the hole she must have left in their lives. They remain steadily in my prayers.

I am a native Lexingtonian. I moved to Portland, Oregon 5 years ago. On my first visit to my new dentist here, the hygienist asked me what I missed about Lexington and, without a thought, my first answer was, my dermatologist. My dermatologist was, of course Martha Post. She was such darling, kind, gentle, sweet and amusing young woman, I always looked forward to my twice yearly check-ups.
Her tragic loss stunned me and my thoughts went immediately to the family who had had her bright light shining on them for so many years. I wish them all of the strength they need to deal with this terrible blow. I will always remember her with a special affection for all the life-affirming pleasre she brought to those who were fortunate to have known her....

To Bob and your girls (Kathryn,Erin and Kaitlin)-Some of my fondest memories of HFH involve Martha. Always the light-hearted spirit, the fixer (much like the middle child who just wants everyone to get along),the comedian, the food poisoning at the the boards (she was smiling even then), and could get along with absolutely everyone. She embodied the essence of what it is to be a physician, mom and human being. I am so sorry for your horrific loss. Sharon Kessler

I remember meeting Martha at Methodist Evangelical Hospital in Louisville, KY where her father Dr. Henry Post was making rounds several years ago. I remember her smile and her good nature. I was her patient - also my husband and daughter. She had such as easy smile, always noticed the little things e.g. earrings and got into random conversations. All the while, her eyes were vigilant and her fingers never stopped traveling. I appreciated her habit of sketching an area of concern and writing instructions. I am so sorry for her family, friends and co-workers. Such a hard loss.

My most heartfelt condolences go out to Dr. Truitt and their 3 daughters. My thoughts and certainly my prayers are with you all now and in time to come. I would also like to extend special condolences to Dr. Henry and Angie Post. I only knew Martha through them. I am a nurse and worked with Dr. Henry Post many years ago and we always exchanged stories about our children. As a new nurse he taught me so much and I have such respect and fondness for him and felt as we were all family (he was the chair of our CCU in Methodist-Evangelical Hospital in Louisville). It truly saddens me to hear of Martha's tragic passing. I remember hearing so many stories about her and know she was a good person. The world will be diminished without her.

I am so sorry to hear of Martha's death. I was a classmate of hers at St.John's, and though we've not been in touch recently, I have often thought of her over the years. She was one of the deeply kind smart people, and I've held on to my memories of her as a model of ethical, intelligent but most importantly kind engagement. Thank you Martha; my life is better for having known you. As stupid as it is for a long ago friend to try this early alleviate the pain of her family and present friends with a noble quotation, she was a St Johnny so she would understand forgive me for my good, if untimely, intention when I say, as Faulkner said,"The past isn't dead. It isn't even past." Martha lives on in all of our hearts and minds.

Dear Post-Truitt Family,
I had heard great things about Dr. Post from patients and colleagues over the years but did not have the opportunity to meet her (as a new patient) until just a few months ago. She did not disappoint: she was warm, caring, intellligent, and down-to-earth, with a good sense of humor; and one could tell she loved what she did. To a one-time patient, she felt more like an old friend. She suggested I see her husband since I was looking for a new PCP, which I did, and I thought, "what a great family." I can only think how difficult this must be for her family and close friends since her death had such a profound impact on me, and I only met her once. I am so sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies and thoughts are with you at this darkest time.

Dr. Martha exhibited the best of physician characteristics. She was kind, patient, welcoming, warm, gentle, and above all caring. Most important she truly exemplified the "Golden Rule". I will miss her dearly. My prayers are with each of you: her family, her friends, her staff, and her patients.

I am not surprised to see from the many entries here that Martha gave of herself to those around her for many years. The Post Family was part of the fabric of my childhood; every one of them has an earthiness that creates a warm and joyous environment. My sympathy to Martha's families--the Posts and Truitts.

We are praying for the family of Dr. Post. What a huge loss! I started seeing Dr. Post 19 years ago and referred all my friends and family to her. She had one of the best bedside manners of any MD. She loved her daughters very much and would always update me on how they were doing. Miss you!

Words can't describe how sorry I am for you and the community. I started working with her over 18 years ago when we were both pregnant, at small community skin cancer screenings. She had one of the warmest and welcoming personalities I'd ever met. We will miss her so much. May God give you strength for each day. Blessings

Dr. Truitt and Erin, Caitlin, and KT,
I can see each of your faces in my mind's eye. The devastating news of Martha's death has rippled across the country. I so wish I could hug you one by one as you struggle to come to terms with this heavy trial. Martha has moved on far too early; the reality of her thoughtful and beautifully lived life and the incredible family she nurtured are her everlasting legacy. I am so very, very sorry for your tremendous loss. May God's peace lift and sustain you. I know healing can come with His help.
My love, Melinda Zabriskie
