Earl BALLINGER Obituary

BALLINGER Earl, 92, husband of Marion Ballinger, died Thu, Feb 16, 2012 at UK Good Samaritan Hosp. Born in Harrison Co, he was a son of the late Earl and Sallie Ballinger. He retired after 38 years at Byron-Page Printing Co. and was a WWII Navy veteran for 3 ½ years. He was a 1938 graduate of Henry Clay High School, member of International Typographical Union, and the US LST Association. He participated in the campaigns of North Africa, European Theater, invasions of Normandy, Sicily, and Salerno, Italy, and US Navy-LST 391. He was a member of Central Christian Church. Survivors other than his wife are two sons, Robert Stafford (Peggy) Ballinger, Lexington, and Steven Earl (Lynne Funk) Ballinger, New York, NY; five grandchildren, Anne Marie Ballinger, Robynn Lynn Ballinger, Hillary Jacqueline Ballinger, Kimberly Funk Ballinger, and Ryan Earl Funk Ballinger; one great-grandchild, Chase Riley Zimmerman; and one sister, Martha Louise Alcorn, Louisville. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Paul Ballinger. Funeral services will be 2pm Mon at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. Burial will be in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1-2pm Mon. Contributions are suggested to Central Christian Church Foundation, 205 E. Short St, Lexington, KY 40507, Salvation Army, 736 W.
