Ernest Jordan Obituary

JORDAN Dr. Ernest Edson, left this world for his next adventure on Mon., Jan. 16, 2006. Helping others was the theme of his life from counseling people, to fixing broken cars, to helping impoverished farmers use their crops more efficiently. Ernie Jordan was born in Syracuse, NY on Feb. 11, 1927. His desire to pursue and accomplish dreams and goals was unquenchable. During WWII he served as an airplane mechanic for the Navy. He met and married Dorothy Rule while earning his BA at the University of Colorado. He worked with the Navajo Indians in Arizona and New Mexico before getting his masters degree in public health from Berkley University. He received his doctorate in education with a specialization in marriage counseling from the University of Pennsylvania and worked for many years as a psychologist for Comprehensive Care Center in Lexington, KY. After retirement, he and his wife served in the Peace Corps, first in Paraguay, South America and later, in the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Rule Jordan who was his partner in adventure for 56 years. Other survivors include four daughters; Laurel Foster, Smyrna, TN, Linda Ann Waggoner, Las Vegas, NV, Cathleen McClain, Mt. Eden, KY, Mera Disponett, Lexington, KY, one son, Martin Jordan, Lexington, KY and 23 grandchildren. His family will dearly miss the wealth of wisdom, ingenious creations, and practical help he always provided. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at 5 pm Sat., Jan. 21, 2006 at First United Methodist Church, 200 West High Street. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to World Neighbors, 4127 NW 122nd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73120(1-800-242-6387)

Ernest Edson Jordan is my Dad. I miss him and hope that one day we can have a nice long talk, as we did so many times when he was alive. I'm thankful for a Dad who was true to his family, who played with his children and encouraged us to use our talents. I know I was loved and cherished and that has made a wonderful foundation for my life. Thanks Dad. Till we meet again, I'll keep your legacy alive by using the tools for life you gave me.

I just wanted to send this note to Grandpa. I hope he checks out this guestbook from his new home. Thanks Grandpa for being so caring about all of your Grandchildren. I'll never forget all of the motor toys you fixed up for us to ride whenever we would come to visit you. Thank you for being so helpful to me when I wanted to build my go-cart, that meant a lot.:) Enjoy growing a big garden in heaven. Save some fruit for me and I'll stop by and try some when I see you again. Much love,

Jesse

Doctor Jordan cared very much about people. I first became acquainted with him as a New Police Officer with The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Police in 1973. I observed him many times, and in many places working with those who needed him. Later in My Life, He helped me through a difficult personal situation. My Sympathy to his Family and Friends. He will be missed by all, whose Lives He touched. God Bless Him.
