It is 13 years later, 2025 since Ms. Doris took flight to her heavenly home. Alot have happen since then. Her beloved daughter-Monica is resting beside her. Her beloved son-Bernard is resting at the foot of her. Day-Day-Bernard's grandson, had a son-Bam-Bam. This March-2025, her great grandson-Na'shon will be a father of a little girl-Ivoy. We praying for her safe arrival. The legacy continues on. If I recall Ms. Doris was the first black charge nurse at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston, NC. What a legacy to leave behind for future generations to look and marvel at. She was a black history story herself. I miss all of you. The only one left now is Monte and the grand, great grand and great great grand. I often visit them when I visit my mother at Oak Hill Memorial. I stop-by just to say hi and that you are not forgotten. Ms. Doris, Mr. Pete, Monica and Bernard sleep easy in the loving arms of your savior Jesus Christ. I often wonder what are you doing in heaven today. Sleep peacefully-My former In-laws.

Ms. Doris will never be forgotten. When I visit my mother's grave. I often stop-by and pay homage to Ms. Doris and Mr. Pete and the rest of the Joyner Family members that are laid to rest at Oak Hill. I have so many fond memories of Ms. Doris. One in particular was when I informed her I received my vocational nurse's license-LVN. She was so overjoyed and happy that it showed all over her face and reactions. We stood out in her driveway of Sycamore Road and talk about being a nurse. It was people like her that set an outstanding role model for me to follow and endeavor. It has been 7 years since we said "I will see you later" to Ms. Doris and it just seems like yesterday. Time passes by so quick. She is a great-great grandmother now. How wonderful that her legacy will be told to a new generation of family members. Sleep on, Ms. Doris and rest with the angels.

It has just been 6 months since we lost our mother and the grand children is now mourning the death of another grandmother and great grandmother (Momma Doris). Our prayers and thoughts are with each of you as you go through this week of preparing and saying goodbye to Ms. Dors. You have a wonderful legacy to cherish and she maybe gone from sight but she will always be in your heart and memories I know for a fact. I can just imagine her seeing my momma and saying Essie Mae here we are together. Take care and hope to see yaw on Saturday for her homegoing service. If there is anything we can do, please let Elaine, Tadzia, Kim or Margie know.
