Roger Ernest Dawson

CHOCOWINTY - Roger Ernest Dawson, 78, of 122 Hillcrest Drive, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Inpatient Hospice of Greenville with his wife Lucy, by his side. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War; was retired from E.I. DuPont and was an avid fisherman and golfer. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Adam and Della Pelletier Dawson; his sister, Merle D. Eason; and a son-in-law, Kent Adams. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011, from the chapel of Garner Funeral Home with Richard Parker officiating. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lucy Sutton Dawson of the home; his daughter, Donna D. Adams of Kinston; his son, Craig Dawson and wife Nancy, of Sneads Ferry; his sister, Grace D. Hardy and husband Bryan, of Seven Springs; his brother, J.B. Dawson and wife Geraldine, of Kinston; many nieces, nephews and friends.
