Johnny Cagle Obituary

Johnny Cagle

Talbott, TN

Johnny Ralph Cagle, age 75, of Talbott, TN passed away May 17, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Eugene and Laura Edith Cagle; and his brother, Tommy. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Bunny; loyal sons and daughters-in-law: John and Cindy Cagle of Dandridge, TN, Mark and Kelly Cagle of Lexington, SC, David and Anna Cagle of Cartersville, GA; and loving grandchildren Laura, Jacob, Stephen and wife Alisha, Sommer, Savannah, Emma Grace, Benjamin, and Noah Cagle. He is also survived by his brother Gene; his brother and sister-in law Ben and Pat Embry; niece Tammy Jo Cagle Maskel and nephew Scott Embry. A member of the Lenoir City High School Class of 1959, Johnny worked for 37 years at Magnavox/North American Phillips, and made many life-long friends there. He had a great love of sports and children, and combined them in life by coaching Little League baseball and serving as a respected baseball umpire and football official. Johnny was one of the founders of Jefferson City Little League football, and enjoyed many fall Saturdays there prepping the field and watching his sons play. He was a legendary Rook player, and enjoyed making new friends as he and Bunny played in tournaments all across the South. Because of his commitment to serving others, especially through sports, Johnny was inducted into the Jefferson City Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. He was also a loyal member of the Scottish Rite Temple, and was a Past Master of the Masonic Blue Lodge #353.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 20, 2016 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM at Farrar's Funeral Home in Jefferson City. After that, everyone is invited to stay for a brief celebration of his wonderful life at the funeral home immediately following the visitation. As a child, Johnny received treatment for a degenerative hip disease from Shriner's Hospital for Children. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to repay their kindness to him by requesting donations be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children in his honor. You may donate on-line at http://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org, or by mailing checks to Shriner's Hospitals for Children; 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive; Tampa, FL 33607.

I so appreciate the friendship I had with Johnny the years I had at Magnavox. I enjoyed the time at work, the ball games we attended, being a referee with him, and the pool games.
Although I only talked to him one time since I left Magnavox in 1980, I will remember Johnny for his Character, both being one and having a lot of it.
