Charles E. Pate, 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Charles was a lifelong member of Lonsdale Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, choir director and deacon. He served in the Maritime Service - Merchant Marine, Air Force, Tennessee National Guard and the Tennessee Air Reserve. Charles was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #433 F&AM. Charles was a graduate of Rule High School, Knoxville and was also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He was a member of the Knoxville Police Department and worked with various companies such as Rich's, B. Forman, Miller Bros. and Maas Bros department stores serving in various leadership capacities finishing his work career as a sales representative working with Mike and Robin Maddox prior to retiring in 2011. Charles was very proud while working at B. Forman in Rochester, New York that he and his wife, Barbara had the opportunity to help start the first Southern Baptist Church in Rochester.

He is preceded in death by wife, Barbara H. Pate; mother, Trula W. Pate; and father, Glen V. Pate. Charles is survived by nephew, Charles L. West; wife, Gisselle, and son, Nathan A. West; cousin, Robert E. Mashburn, II, wife, Jean; and a number of other cousins and friends.

Family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m., with Reverend Wayne Roach officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2017, at Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Northwest Baptist Church on Merchants Drive in memory of Charles. Online obituary may be viewed and condolences extended at www.rosemortuary.com.

Charles & Barb are truly missed both of them are like gems when you meet them and become true friends you never want to lose a gem. But I am so sure to say that Charles is pleased to be where he is and wouldn't change a thing.

WE loved seeing Charlie, he was always a bright spot in our day. He will be missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him.
We rejoice in the fact that he is in a far better place and there are no more tears or pain.
