Betty Kelley Obituary

KELLEY, BETTY BENNETT - of Jefferson City, TN passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 following a battle with cancer. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. and Mrs. Edward P. Bennett of Morganton, NC. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Shawn Raines of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Lisa Kelley of Knoxville; grandchildren, Maggie, Shawn Douglas and Madison Raines of Knoxville; sister and brother-in-law, Vanda and Keith Tate of Greensboro, NC and several nieces and nephews and numerous special friends especially in the Carson-Newman College community and at First Baptist Church, Jefferson City. Betty was in education both as a teacher in North Carolina and numerous Jefferson County schools and as circulation desk coordinator at Carson-Newman. She took great joy in being with students and leaves behind many young people who were touched by her kind spirit and helpfulness. She will be greatly missed, but we take comfort that she is rejoicing in heaven now. Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Jefferson City with Reverend Stan Elliott and Dr. Gene Wilder officiating. Graveside interment service will be 12:00 noon Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Forest Hill Cemetery, Morganton, NC. The family will receive friends 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to be made to Carson-Newman Library or to Susan G. I truly will miss seeing her face at Homewood and miss her telling me all kinds of stories,she was a very sweet lady may God remain with your family!
