Joyce Katherine Weaver Fowler, passed away Monday morning, July 10, 2017. She was a hundred and four years young. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, James Lyman Fowler, her parents; Charles Andrew Weaver and Anna Cottrell Weaver and two siblings; Charles Andrew Weaver Jr. and Louise Weaver Seat. She is survived by daughters, Lee Fowler McMillan, Ann Fowler Bray, Emily Fowler Callaway and one son; James Lyman Fowler Jr. Joyce leaves behind two granddaughters; Paige Fowler Bellamy and Raegan Callaway Miller and five grandsons; John William Myers II, James Bryan Myers, John Blair, James L Fowler III MD and Thomas Scott Callaway. She had the pleasure of fifteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Fowler was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Joyce was proud of being a 5th generation Knox Countian and a member of both First Families of Tennessee and the East Tennessee Historical Society. She was a founding member of the Church of the Ascension. Joyce was a member of Chapter 89 United Daughters of the Confederacy, James White Chapter of the D.A.R, Daughters of the Colonists and The Thursday Club. She was the Past President of the Knoxville Chapter of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities, Ramsey House, Episcopal Church Women at St. James Episcopal Church, the Episcopal Church Women the Church of the Ascension and the West Moreland Garden Club. Joyce taught in the Knoxville School System both before her marriage and after her husband's death. A Celebration of Joyce's life will take place Friday, August 11th at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension at 11:00 am. Reception following in the Parish Hall. Interment Private.
