Opal Caudill Obituary

FORT WAYNE — Opal P. Caudill, 96, of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Kingston Care Center.
She was born November 14, 1920, in Wayland, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Myrtle (Parsley) Blankenship. She worked as a homemaker and was a seamstress to over 200 people in her 80-plus years of sewing. She was a member of Three Rivers Wesleyan Church. Through city churches she was very involved in making denim quilts for homeless veterans at the Shepherd's House, making backpacks for kids through Hope Alive, and lap blankets for cancer patients.
Surviving are her children, Phillip R. (Janie) Caudill of Port Charlotte, Florida, Charles E. (Patricia) Caudill of Austin, Texas, Nancy C. (James) Freeman of Albion, Indiana, Brenda K. Jump of Fort Wayne and Deborah L. (Donald) Kennedy of Fort Wayne; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother Charles (Pauline) Blankenship of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister Avanelle (Pat, deceased) Quisenberry of Clothier, West Virginia; and sister-in-law, Maxine (Leon, deceased) Fitch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Little Caudill; granddaughter Kimberly; brother George Paris Blankenship; and sisters Ethel Ramey and Ella Mae Wray.
Funeral service will be Monday, March 27, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be on Sunday, March 26, 2017, from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Northeast Indiana Honor Flight.
