Jean Johnson Obituary

Jean Codding Johnson
Jean Codding Johnson, 89, passed away at her home on June 11, 2015.
Jean was born in White Bluffs, WA on October 24, 1925 to Andrew and Irma Codding. Her family were orchardists, growing apples along the banks of the Columbia River. The Federal government condemmed the community of White Bluffs in 1941 in order to build Hanford Nuclear Plant. Jean and her family were displaced and moved to Yakima. Graduated from Davis High School in 1943 and worked for the Yakima Herald Republic newspaper until 1948.
Jean met her future husband Kenneth on a blind date for New Year's Eve in 1946. They engaged on Valentine's Day and were married November 19, 1949.
They rebuilt an old farmhouse, raised cattle, hay and four children in the Badger Pocket area for 65 years.
Jean devoted her life to her children and created a family dynasty that is in operation today as Crossfire Farms. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing Lake Roosevelt and vacation trips to Neah Bay. Working hard on the farm, raising, harvesting and canning fruits & vegtables were always a labor of love. She truly enjoyed her flower gardens and sharing favorite plants.
Jean's journey through her life revolved around family & friends. Memories and stories will always be with us.
Preceding her in death: husband of 60 years Kenneth. Jean is survived by Marsha (Gary) Speer, Neal Johnson, Wes (Betsy) Johnson and Leslie Johnson, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
At her request, a family memorial will take place later this summer.
Thank you Hospice Friends and KVH staff for your kind and gentle care of our mother. She will always be loved and forever missed.
