Biff Elliot Obituary

BIFF ELLIOT
July 23, 1923 - August 15, 2012

Biff Elliot, actor, acting coach and radio sportscaster, has died at his home in Studio City, at the age of 89.

He was born in Lynn, Massachusetts and served in the Army during World War II, before attending the University of Maine. After graduation he and his wife, Elizabeth Dole "Betty" moved to New York. Biff worked in live television before being brought to Hollywood to play the role of detective Mike Hammer in the first Mickey Spillane movie, "I the Jury" in 1953.

Biff had a long career in films and television. His movies included That's Life, Save the Tiger, PT109, Good Morning Miss Dove, and House of Bamboo. He appeared in several movies for television as well as in many of the major TV series. These included Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Starman, CHIPS, Planet of the Apes, Cannon, The F.B.I., Bonanza, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Hawaiian Eye, Route 66, 77 Sunset Strip, Perry Mason and Lux Video Theatre. He was a member of AFTRA, Screen Actors Guild and The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Israel and Susan Shalek; his brothers, Stanley Shalek and Win Elliot; as well as his first wife, Betty. Biff is survived by his wife, Connie; many nieces and nephews; and his cat, Lionel.

There will be no funeral. A memorial service will be planned at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made to Actors and Others for Animals, the Actors Fund, the Motion Picture and Television Fund, or a charity of your choice.
