Jody Frankfurt Obituary

JODY MOREING FRANKFURT Singer and songwriter of Woodland Hills California, was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 30, after a struggle with lung cancer. She was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills CA. A memorial service will be held October 20 at 1:00 at Grace Community Church, 13248 Roscoe Blvd. Sun Valley, CA 91352. (818) 909-5500. Jody is survived by her husband Scott Frankfurt of Woodland Hills, CA; mother, Judith Moreing of Atherton, CA; brothers, James Moreing o f Redwood City, CA, and William Moreing of Moss Beach CA; sisters, Annie LaPoint of Atherton, CA and Mia Russell of Redwood City, CA. Jody was born and raised in the San Francisco bay area and earned a music composition degree from Mills College. After graduation she toured with various acts, even opening for the Doors. She wrote numerous pop songs and was signed to a record deal with Boardwalk Records. After Boardwalk closed its doors, Jody refocused on her writing, including the multi-platinum tune " Danny (Nobody Wins)," recorded by 80's-pop phenom "Tiffany". In 1987, Jody surrendered her life to God, and "God being infinitely rich in mercy and because of His great love," saved her from the penalty of sin. On June 21, 1988 Jody married her beloved husband, Scott Frankfurt. Together they were signed to Frontline Records and recorded as the Christian group, "street called Straight" releasing four critically acclaimed albums, including a string of radio friendly hits, most notably "World Without End" which held a top-ten slot in the CCM airplay charts. Through their own Bleach Bros. Music and Hymmersion labels, Jody and Scott have produced almost a dozen full-length albums. Jody was an active member of Grace Community Church, providing food to the homeless, discipling other women in the Word of God, and her greatest joy - encouraging others with her original worship music. Above all else, Jody desired that her music and her life be an offering of praise to Jesus Christ, Who saved her. In lieu of flowers, Jody requested that donations be made to the "Music for Missions" fund at Grace Community Church to benefit missionaries serving worldwide. I am a high school classmate of Jody's, and am only now discovering not only that she passed, but what God did in her life -- and how she responded so deeply and beautifully. What a profound source of gratitude for her and the God she treasured.

Jody was such a caring person. She and I had a conversation where our love for Barbra Streisand was revealed. I told her that as a young child I listened to Streisand's music and had been praying for her for years. She told me that she too regularly prayed for Streisand's salvation. I will continue to pray for Barbra. Scott, the service was beautiful, more like a wedding and Jody, the bride of Christ! You are in my thoughts and prayers.

The worshipful blessing of the service for Jody still rings in my heart. We were the privileged ones who knew and loved her as a cherished friend and partook of the Lord's glory through her music and her devoted friendship. I don't know that I have ever been so blessed at a service to celebrate the glorious homegoing of one of the Lord's chosen. Jody is surely singing praises to His Name and at His Feet today. We look forward to joining her as she honors Him there in His Home of Glory.

What a blessing it was to be a part of the worship at Grace Church from
1996-2002. We had no intentions of
leaving CA, but God had plans for us
to care for Les' mom. Jody and Scott
were always a blessing with their music and seeing Jody's life through EWC was such a blessing. May
the God of all comfort be with all
who loved and cherished this beautiful servant of God. Jer. 29:11

We have so many mixed emotions at this time. Sadness for you,Scott, sadness for all of us who loved and appreciated Jody's unique person, happiness for Jody to be worshipping at the feet of Jesus and recieving His holy blessings.
Because of knowing where she is, we were able to rejoice during the worship service even with the tears running down our faces. Scott, you will be in the center of our love and prayers forever more. Philippians6:10 Ephesians 3:20 All our love forever, Burton and Dolores

I first became familiar with Jody when she joined Logan Carr in leading music at Every Woman's Grace Bible study on Wed. mornings many years ago. She played "Mr. Buttons" and sang some very creative and fun songs as well as serious and worshipful ones. I think the first song she did was from the Proverbs about gentle words like a honey comb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. My daughter, Fanny Lang, asked Jody to tape that song so she could teach it to her children as a tool for speaking kindly.
Soon, my husband, Doug, and I enjoyed both Scott and Jody leading music in the Mainstream fellowship group on Sunday mornings.
Eventually, our youngest son, Darby, began playing music along with Scott and Jody and their band. Darby and his sweet new wife, Karyn, joined the music rehearsals at the Frankfurt's home where they were treated with great love and kindness. Scott's mother, Bonnie, served bountiful and delicious food to all the group at every rehearsal, and she was equally loving to Darby and Karyn.
I especially appreciated Jody's singing as I have a second alto voice which sounds very similar to hers and to her style of singing. I always enjoyed singing along with her in Mainstream from my seat.
She was a lovely blessing and will be greatly missed.

How the Lord blesses His own; His blessings fall on the saved and unsaved. While still unsaved the Lord blessed me with meeting Jody Frankfurt, who answered every mother's dream by being an excellent wife to my son, who was a perfect daughter-in-law who I came to love as a daughter, and who taught me by example about love of the Lord, His Son, His Spirit.
Words cannot describe this loss to us in our human state ...
How I look forward to joining her in heaven where, as she so beautifully sang it, "God is on His throne," and she is with Him there. Missing you, my dearest Jody, and looking forward to the day we share, once again, sweet fellowship .....
Love,
Bonnie/Mom

Jody was one of my closest friends and a constant source of encouragement in the Lord. Her excitement for and love of God's Word will never be forgotten. We laughed a lot, too. What a joy to have known her. Romans 11:33-36

Jody Moreing Frankfurt was my beautiful, great best friend who taught me what it looked like to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way. I am so thankful that she is at home with the Lord she loved so fervently. My hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ and that I will one day be with my Savior and my precious friend forever and ever.

"What is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will gory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy" (1 Thess 2:19-20).

I'll miss you every minute till I get there.

Jody Frankfurt was my beautiful sister! I miss her dearly, but because she knew Jesus Christ, she is more alive in Heaven today than she ever has been. I will miss everything about my sister Jody but my great hope is that I will see her again one day in Heaven! "I love you, Jody!"
