ELIZABETH SINNESS KOHL
Elizabeth, 97, died peacefully on December 30th, in Seattle.
Born February 13, 1916 to Torger and Isabel Sinness in Minnewauken, ND, Elizabeth graduated from Devils Lake H. S. in 1934, and from the Univ. of Wisconsin in 1938. She married Lloyd Kohl in 1941.They relocated to So. Calif. in 1952. Elizabeth was a teacher and librarian for the LA Unified School District at O'Melveny and Sylvan Park Schools. She served as Pres. of North Hollywood Rotary Anns as her beloved Lloyd was active as an officer and newsletter editor in the N.H. Rotary Club until his death in 1987. Elizabeth was also Pres. of the Sherman Oaks Woman's Club, and an officer in the Calif. Federation of Women's Clubs. She was a playwright, directing her students in performing her adaptations of Greek tragedies. She moved to Seattle in 1999. Elizabeth loved visiting the Washington State Legislature where her daughter Jeanne is a state senator and son Terry is a lobbyist. She is survived by her two children: Jeanne Kohl-Welles (Alex Welles) and Terry Kohl, graduates of North Hollywood H.S., Grant H.S., CSUN, and UCLA and UC graduate schools; five grandchildren, Randy and Brennan Hill, Terra, Kyle and Devon Jenkins; four great-grandchildren, Austin and Madisyn Hill, Emma and Finley Cooper; and her sister, Ruth Haugland.
A service was held yesterday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Seattle, followed by a Celebration of Her Life at Bayview Manor where she resided. Elizabeth's guestbook is at http://bit.ly/elizabethskohl.

R.I.P. MRS KOHL MY BELOVED 6TH GRADE TEACHER. U ALWAYS HAD TIME 4 ME EVEN AFTER I GRADUATED FROM O'MELVENY. MY BROTHER XAVIER AND I STOPPED BY OFTEN JUST 2 SAY HELLO. OUR PARENTS HAVE BOTH PASSED 2 BE WITH THE LORD. THE HOME WE WERE RAISED IN IS STILL RIGHT NEXT DOOR 2 THE SCHOOL ON CHATSWORTH DRIVE. OUR SISTER ROSE STILL LIVES THERE. HER DAUGHTER VALERIE ATTENDED O'MELVEY AND NOW HER GRANDSON IS A STUDENT @ O'MELVENY. MY HEART IS BROKEN 4 THE LOSS OF MRS KOHL BUT I ALSO REJOICE IN KNOWING I WILL SEE HER ONCE AGAIN IN HEAVEN. MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES 2 HER CHILDREN JEANNE AND TERRY AND GRANDCHILDREN.
