Evangeline McPherson

EVANGELINE CARMICHAEL McPHERSON Veteran Hollywood studio singer, passed away suddenly of complications during heart surgery on July 9th, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. She will be interred in a private service, next to her beloved husband, Rolf K. McPherson, at the gravesite of Aimee Semple McPherson in Forest Lawn, Glendale. A public memorial service will be announced. Vangie, as she was known to friends and family, was born September 27, 1926 in Montana, the youngest and only surviving daughter of three, to Rev. Richard Ot to and Frieda A. Knight. She attended LIFE Bible College in Los Angeles and worked in the afternoons with Minister of Music, Jimmie Boersma at Angelus Temple. Her singing experiences led her to hosting her own radio show on Sunday nights with Paul Mickelson. She married Ralph Carmichael in 1948 and had one daughter, Carol Celeste. The couple recorded with Sacred Records and pioneered many firsts in both sacred and secular music, spanning several decades. Separated in 1963, they both went on to have a signif icant effect on the field of music. Evangeline worked in entertainment for the next 25 years, including television, film, records and radio. She reacquainted with Dr. Rolf McPherson while attending a funeral in 1996. Inseparable from that day forward, they married on January 31, 1997. She served with her husband at Angelus Temple until he passed on May 21, 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Celeste Carmichael Parks; and her two granddaughters, Acacia Parks-Sheiner and Amanda Parks Leddy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Susan G.
