Mary Parrott Obituary

Mary Kathryne Hollingsworth Parrott, 95, died June 5 at her home in Jonesborough.
She was a devoted and loving wife, a most wonderful mother and grandmother and a committed Christian who loved the Lord.
'I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth,' 3 John 1:4. Her children included many people all through the years, from all walks of life.
She lived most of her life in LaFollette and was a member of the First Baptist Church for 75 years. She was a stay-at-home mom and dedicated her life to serving not only her immediate family, but also her church, various Christian ministries, her community and any that God brought her way.

Hollingsworth; brothers, Dr. Harry W. Hollingsworth and Charles Hollingsworth; her beloved husband of nearly 70 years, William Floyd Parrott; daughter, Carol W. Hodge.
Her survivors include her sister, Betty Pollock and husband, Jim, of Johnson City; son-in-law, R.J. Hodge of Maryville; daughter, Brenda Nichols and husband, Mickey, of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, Bill Parrott and wife, Sandra, of Knoxville; daughter and loving caregiver, Debbie Parrott of Jonesborough; daughter, Donna Rankin of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Greg Miller of Kingsport, Deanna Miller of Atlanta, Ga. Sebrina Duffin of Atlanta, Ga., Darren Nichols of Orange Park, Fla., Lisa Chappell of Quinlan, Texas, Dawn Wagner of Johnson City, Ashley Parrott of Nashville, Billy Parrott of Clarksville, who also serves with the 101st airborne division in Afghanistan, and April Barrett of Chattanooga; 17 great-grandchildren; special daughter, Georgea Green; special friends and caregivers, Dorsie Smith, Sondra Wills, Christy Licker and Diane Dugger, Karen Berry, Patty Stampber, Karen Walker, Lisa Bentley, Kammie Rasnake, Shelby Head and Ann Bowman.
A special thanks to the Smoky Mountain Hospice of Greeneville and staff, especially Wendy, RN, Bathers, Karen, Leslie, Gery and Betsy. A special thanks also to Dr. Williams and Sheila, RN.
Funeral services were June 8. Graveside services and interment were at Woodlawn Cemetery immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to LaFollette First Baptist Church, your favorite children's ministry or children's home.
Walters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Debbie and the rest of the family,
I've known your mother all my life. She was always so friendly and sweet to everyone. She and my mother, Carrie Baird, were friends and worked diligently together for many years at FBC LaFollette...in the nursery, as choir mothers and as G.A. leaders. How blessed I am to have known the beautiful lady with the pretty streak in her hair.
Heaven is a bit prettier now.
All my love.
