Leopoldo Terrero Obituary
Leo was a gentle soul who cared deeply for his family and friends. He had a passion for life and lived life to its fullest. He was an experienced commercial pilot for over 30 years flying between the US, South America and the Caribbean. Leo was also a pioneer in the water being one of the first surfers in Venezuela. He was also an avid fisherman and kayaker.
Leo is survived by his loving wife, Georgette; son, Christian Furst and his wife, Antoinette; granddaughter, Sofia, who brought him great joy; daughters, Maria Elena and Isabella Terrero; brother, Alejandro "Catire" Terrero; sisters, Irene Terrero, Cristina "Kiki" Terrero, Alicia Terrero and Ana Maria Terrero; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014, at 11am at All Hallows Catholic Church in La Jolla, CA.

Met Leo for the first time at the launch last year, and then again a month later. What a sweet guy. He told me about his situation and we talked fishing for awhile before I launched. As we talked, he would look out at the water with such longing in his eyes. Not sure how aware he was of how serious his situation was at the time, but there was calm in his eyes and he seemed very much at peace. I'll never forget our two meetings...

Trully sorry to hear such down news, I just can't believe it.. I spoke to him not too long ago it seems and he sounded better than me, sorry that this trajic passing of Leopoldo. Really sad news, never met his wife hope you are in peace over his passing. Chucho Maya a good friend for over 50 yrs. rest in peace brother.

Ouch!... I first met Leo fishing with the Kid... I remember thinking without judgement, "I don't think he is originally from around here!" Not many guys running around in speedo's fishing LJ.
We became friends on the water over the next couple years. He was always friendly, upbeat, and always willing to assist another fisherman.
I always remember hearing him yell "Hey cowboy Bill!!" as he would see me out on the water. I was thinking about him just last week.
I feel sad as I have not talked to him in about a year, and still have his # in my cell phone.. I wished I would have called just to say Howdy...
