Dr. Brand was a great man. As a young boy I remember the "discussions" he and my mom had about baseball. He loved the Giants, mom was a Dodger fan. But most of all, he truly cared for the people. I see his old office is still used for medical work. Good, because a lot of small miracles were wrought by his hands at that humble office. He kept that office going in the face of mounting pressure to join an HMO. I'm getting ready to retire as I type this, and in no small part due to his dedication. I'll never forget that tall man with the black glasses calling me "handsome Harry". I remember all his childrens' photos cascading down the office wall and his unique ability to talk on the phone, and write a prescription for me. To say he will be missed is an understatement. We have lost a great doctor, a great friend. Heaven has gained both.

How lucky I was to have met Dr. Brand (& the entire Brand family) when Annie & I attended Indiana University together! During my visits to L.A., Burton always had time to give "Hollywood & Tijuana" tours and share his valuable time with Annie's friends. Fond memories indeed! Above all, I treasure our correspondence over the past few years. To the entire Brand Family...your wonderful father was a true gentleman who was a ray of sunshine! He will be greatly missed. all of my love ~dawn
