October 10, 1926 - June 19, 2017 Loperena, Sr. Grace Ann, C.S.J., age 90, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 in Los Angeles, CA. Born October 10, 1926 in San Diego, California, a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet since March 19, 1945. Sister Grace Ann found three things important in her life: her love of God, her love for community and her dedication to her Basque culture. Grace Ann's early years in ministry were in elementary education, both in teaching and administration. The call to community leadership began in 1968 as Assistant Provincial followed by a term as Provincial Superior starting in 1974. For eighteen years, Grace Ann offered spiritual direction and encouragement to many at the Villa Maria House of Prayer. Her gentle and dedicated spirit were evident in her interactions with all persons. May she rest in peace. She is survived by her numerous nieces and nephews, including Fr. Robert Buchanan, Dr. Dennis Buchanan, Julie Buchanan and Beverly Mascani. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Carondelet Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 4:30PM with Funeral Mass at 6:30PM. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:00AM in Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, CA.
