Richard Wells Obituary

August 6, 1921 - May 1, 2015 Judge Richard Leslie Wells. deceased May 1, 2015, Age 93, Los Angeles, CA. Judge Wells served for over 30 years on the Superior Court of California, in Santa Monica and Los Angeles. In 1961 he was appointed to the Superior Court by Governor Edmund G " Pat " Brown at age 40; the youngest Superior Court judge ever appointed until that time. Previously he had been a Municipal Court judge in Los Angeles, CA. Prior to that he was an attorney at Gibson Dunn and Crutcher Law Offices, Los Angeles, CA, graduated Harvard Law School ('50), an officer in the Merchant Marine near the end of World War II, and a graduate of Stanford University ('42) and Beverly Hills High School ('38). Judge Wells was born in Columbus, Ohio and is predeceased by his parents Leslie and Ona Menefee Wells, Beverly Hills, CA. He was loved by his family and friends and cherished as one of the best lives lived by the Greatest Generation. A private gathering has been held by family and there will be no service.

A very good friend for many years. Tried to visit him several times in LA and Palm Springs but was never able to make contact.There are not many of us left
