William HOHRI Obituary

HOHRI, William Minoru (83), died on November 12, 2010. He led the class action suit Hohri vs. U.S. to the Supreme Court on behalf of all Japanese Americans incarcerated in WWII and will be remembered for his courage, leadership and kindness. A first generation computer programmer and author of three books, including Repairing America, An Account of the Japanese-American Redress, Hohri graduated from The University of Chicago, AB 49. He is survived by his wife, Yuriko; daughters, Sasha and Sylvia; brothers, Sohei and Tak; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, November 21 at 11 a.m. in Los Angeles at Fukui Mortuary, 707 E. Temple St., 90012. www.fukuimortuary.com (213) 626-0441

Dear Sylvia, Mrs. Hohri and Sylvia's sister,

I am so sad to hear of Mr. Hohri's passing. Mr. Hohri was truly an American hero, and as time passes further, his memory will always be present as new generations learn about the many courageous and important things he did.

My deepest sympathy to all of you.
