Jerome Joseph Feagan was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 16, 1928. Jerome spent his pre-school years at St. Ann's Infant Home, sponsored by the Daughters of Charity and continued his schooling through high school with the Franciscan Sisters and Oblate Fathers.
After completing high school Jerome went to St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he worked for over 30 years operating the elevator at the Hospital.
In 1983 Jerome retired and came to St. Vincent Medical Center in Los Angeles to live near the Daughters of Charity. Jerome had a passion for photography. He attended many Hospital and Diocesan events where he enjoyed taking pictures of friends. He was an avid reader and was interested in politics and religion. He was a devout Catholic, a daily communicant and traveled by bus to go to confession every Saturday.
Jerome's simplicity and friendly affect made him beloved by all who met him. He was quite deaf although a hearing aid made him able to communicate if the speaker spoke loudly and slowly.
A simple man, Jerome asked for nothing and he gave his best to stranger and friend. He was thrilled to be able to plan his funeral and interment at Our Lady Queen of the Angel's Cathedral in Los Angeles.
On November 16, 2010, without struggle or suffering, Jerome closed his eyes and went home to God. Free at last from the physical limitations that held him back from the time of his birth , Jerome is at rest. Though our hearts are heavy with the loss of our friend, we rejoice in his entrance into Eternal Life.
There will be a Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, 555 W. Temple St., Los Angeles, CA 90012, at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 with Cardinal Roger Mahony celebrating the Mass.
