Alfred CONLIN Obituary

CONLIN, Alfred Thomas Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts died Monday, November 15, 2010. He was 89 years old. A graduate of Phillips Academy, Andover and Harvard University, Tom was commissioned in the US Navy in 1942 and served as a Lieutenant Commander on destroyers in the North Atlantic and South Pacific theaters during WWII. In 1981 he retired Commander, USNR. Tom worked for Campbell Soup Company, Camden, NJ, Hunt-Wesson Foods, Fullerton, CA and retired from United Can Company, Fullerton, CA in 1984. A resident of Whittier, CA since 1959, Tom was an active member of The Rotary Club of Whittier and served his community at St. Jude Medical Center, Fullerton, Whittier Public School District and Rio Hondo Symphony. In 1991, he earned his PhD from The University of California, Riverside. He loved opera, running, history, yard work, mathematics, family, and the Red Sox. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Augustine and Alice Helene Roy Conlin, his wife, Mary McKee Conlin and his son, Robert Thomas Conlin. He is survived by his brother Richard Roy Conlin, son, James Alfred, daughter, Nancy and her husband Todd Wyatt and three grandchildren: Kelly, Thomas and Russell Wyatt. Funeral services will be held at 9:00AM, Monday, November 22nd at St. Bruno's Catholic Church, 15740 Citrustree Rd., Whittier, CA 90603. A private interment service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery. Friends may make a donation to St. Bruno's Catholic Church or to the charity of their choice.
