Barbara HARRIS Obituary

HARRIS, Barbara Mar. 30, 1919 - Oct. 20, 2010 Barbara Harris, 91, died October 20 in Brea. Barbara Pauline Jones, the fifth of six children, was born March 30, 1919 in Pomona, California, where her parents, Pauline Upton Jones and Paul Revere Jones farmed 100 acres. Although she did not graduate from high school, Barbara took courses and training programs throughout her life to try to improve herself. She worked at various jobs through the years but was most proud of being a realtor in the 1960's. In 1937 she married Sidney Russell, and her daughter Marlene was born in 1938, but the marriage ended in divorce. In 1943 she married Milton "Swede" Nyquist, and in 1944, her daughter Barbara was born, but that marriage also ended in divorce. In the 1950's she lived for a while in the San Francisco Bay Area, near her mother and sisters but returned to Los Angeles, where she remained until 2007. In 1967 she married Edward D. Harris with whom she enjoyed many years managing their apartment building in Los Angeles and leading motor home caravans through Mexico. Edward died in 1997. For the past few years she lived in Buena Park with her daughter Marlene and son-in-law Homer. Barbara Pauline Jones Harris is survived by her daughters Marlene Russell Thexton and husband Homer, Kim Barbara Nyquist Elder and husband Richard, three nieces, seven grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. She was buried at Rose Hills, Whittier, October 23.
