Daniel Delson Davis, Jr. was born on March 2, 1931 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He passed away on September 24, 2010 in Inglewood, California.
Dan graduated from Lincoln University in 1952 with a degree in Biology. While at Tuskegee he met and married Mildred Portia Sharp. He graduated from Tuskegee Institute School of Veterinary Medicine in 1956. He began his professional practice in Providence, RI, with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.He and Portia moved to Los Angeles in 1958 where he initially worked for the State of California. He operated Slauson Avenue Animal Hospital until his retirement in 2005. They initially lived in the San Fernando Valley and later moved to Inglewood
He is predeceased by his parents Bishop Daniel Delson Davis, Sr. and his mother Evelyn Davis. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Mildred P. Davis, step daughters Gretchen and Natalie, son Daniel daughters Saundra and Joan He is survived by six grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10am on Saturday October 2, 2010 at Inglewood Mortuary 1206 Centinela Ave, Inglewood. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Tuskegee University, School of Veterinary Medicine, C/O Willie Burnett, 3320 Kresge Center, Tuskegee, AL 36088
