Daniel Eget Obituary

Eget, Daniel Joseph
April 14, 1927 - November 15, 2011
Daniel J Eget, a founder of one of the first US companies to import steel from Japan, died Tuesday in Los Angeles, at the age of 84. As one of seven children of Russian immigrants. "Danny" (as his beloved wife Jeanne always called him) was born in Lorraine, Ohio in 1927 and served admirably in WW II before moving to California where he met and in 1950, married Jeanne Scher. While his business life following honorable military service was busy and exponentially successful (a leader in companies such as Capitol Metals Co. Inc., Eget Enterprises, All American Steel, Metal Transport, Dynasty Steel Services, C.O.E. Trucking, and Danat Investment Co.-the decades-long partnership with the late Nate Reese), his major devotion to life was his family, closest friends and charitable pursuits. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, his daughter Pamela, daughter Laurel, and son Richard; his seven grandchildren Jennifer, Adam, Stephanie, Sarah, Nicola, Bradley, and Nathan; and his sister Josephine Baranov. What made Dan Eget "special", his family would agree was his giving nature, his optimistic sense of humor, and his his unwavering devotion to solving the problems of others. He was "truly one of a kind".
