Daria Paris Obituary

Paris, Daria
August 31, 1950 - October 2, 2010
Our wonderful, vibrant, truth-telling, feisty, warm, caring Daria is gone. We counted on her telling us the truth, even when it hurt. We relied on her judgment, even when she was mad at us. She was constant, true, not subtle, button pushing and real. In our lives she cannot be duplicated. Her family & Hollywood friends will miss her terribly. Each of you who loved her know what she meant to you. Give thanks. She is survived by her mother Ada, brother Jonathan and sister Amy.Donations:animalwelfaresociety.org

Hey Daria, we first met at John Winthrop Junior HS in Brooklyn N.Y through our mutual friend Roberta Kurtz back in the early 1960s. At lunchtime the three of us would hurry down to Fink’s candy store to listen to the jukebox and flirt with all of the bad boys who didn’t go to school. We thought we were ‘something else’. We later found out we really were ‘something else’. We stayed friends throughout the years - I left for California and you soon followed. I had to share this picture with all of your friends - a typical Daria pose – looking out to your world and bursting out to the heavens (pic by Michael Pettit). Ah, sweet friend – we are all going to miss you. Have a pleasant journey and stay in that love circle until we meet again, love, r.

Daria was a friend of mine for 40 years. She was a unique woman in every way. We will all miss her special wit, caustic charm, honest assessments, and passionate overview of almost everything. She was also brave and met life's challenges head-on and was consistent in all her values. So many people loved her and I was one of them.

Daria, you were the consummate, strong willed woman. But in time I discovered your loving and sensitive side. When I called you a "softy", you admitted it. I will miss our dinners together and our phone calls debating movies, tennis, restaurants, and your no holds barred opinions on everything - which I loved to debate you on or agree with you. I will also greatly miss the "softy" that lived inside that New Yorker. I can only hope they serve good pizza in Heaven.
Love MikeyG and Kiki and Gracie... And Ginger and Bean who loved you too!

Dear Daria,
You were one of my oldest friends. We met when you moved onto Hawthorne Street in Brooklyn with your wonderful family. We became fast friends, always in each other's homes, hanging out with the rest of the group on our street. We did some crazy things. You did more crazy things than I did because you weren't afraid to go to the edge but I was. You were fun, loving, caring, strong, full of life and opinions. You were a true liberal who would stand up for your beliefs. I remember the time you dressed in the Greek costume and came with me to the Greek Independence Day Parade looking as Greek as Jennifer Aniston! I wanted to call you for your 60th birthday to share the disbelief that we both turned 60 in August. I got busy and never called...so Happy Birthday my dear friend. I will miss you even though we didn't see each other ofen. I thought of you many times. I am lucky to have known you.

Dear Daria,
You were one of my oldest friends. You and your great family moved onto Hawthorne Street and we became fast friends. We were in each other's homes all the time and we hung out on our street doing crazy things. You did more crazy things than I did because you liked going to the edge. I was afraid to get too close to that edge. You were fun, caring, loving, full of life and opinions. A true liberal who would stand up for her beliefs. I wanted to call you for your 60th birday just to share the disbelief that we really turned 60 this year but I got busy and never did...so Happy Birthday my dear friend. Even though we didn't see each other often, I will miss you. I'm lucky to have the great memories!

I remember you dressing up in the "Greek" costume and going to the Greek Independence Day Parade with me. You were fun, daring, caring, full of life and opinions. A true liberal who would stand up for what she believed in. Even though we weren't in touch regularly, I thought of you often and we saw each other when you came home. I wanted to call you for your 60th becasue I couldn't believe we turned 60 but I got busy and never did...so Happy Birthday my dear friend. I'll miss you but I have the memories.

I first met Daria when I was a little girl in Brooklyn. Living right next door and growing up with her younger sister, Amy, I always felt like she was my “big sister” too. I haven’t seen Daria for many many years, but oddly feel now as if I lost my own “big sister.” Rest in peace Daria...

Lost forever: one great "old" broad with voice to match -- and a dear, dear friend. I can't believe that Daria's gone. I thought she wouldn't allow it.

Daria, We met when you were only thirteen and you already had such a strong sense of identity, bold, sensitive and kind. The funny thing I always remember about you is how you always told our seventh grade teacher that "Mister" your dog, ate your homework. I'm sorry we didn't spend more time together.

Daria I'll miss your wonderful laugh and your view on the world. You had great hair, your own style and quite the decorator. You're the only person i knew that was so aware of the planet you recycled used tissue paper .....Lynnette Moore (Los Angeles)

Daria was a kind lady. She always was interseted in what others were doing more than thinking of herself. The few times I saw when she came to visit her brother, and family she always seem to wish to know what I have been up too. She will be missed!

My Favorite Cousin Daria, Since I was 8 months old (1950) you were a part of my life. We went to school together, lived close to each other, fought with each other etc. I remember when my sister and I told you Santa Clause was not real, and your mother was mad at us for that. I certainly can go on and on. Will miss your dearly. As I said every time we would talk..I love you.

I met Daria in 1982 upon my moving to Los Angeles. We were both from Brooklyn and identified with a lot of the same things. We stayed close friends throughout. She certainly left her mark on this planet - and I'm certain she's already shaking things up in heaven.

My dear friend Daria - although I miss you dearly - I'm grateful that I was able to spend some time with you before you left. You were a great inspiration to Michael and for that I thank you. And this I promise - I will love and care for Lulu and each time I give her hugs and kisses - we'll both be sending them up to you.
