David Melamed Obituary

MELAMED, David J. Died peacefully at home in Los Angeles. He was 96 years old. Beloved husband of Pearl Flaster Melamed, wife of 65 years. Also survived by sons Vincent Melamed of Nashville, TN (Meredith), Andrew Melamed of Hanalei, HI (Christine), and grandchildren Mia, Dylan and Nage'. A native of New York City, Melamed served in the Army during World War II, where he received his training in accounting. His career in the motion picture industry spanned 65 years - from 1933 to 1998. Prior to 1959, he held positions in the New York offices of RKO, Eagle-Lion and Pathe'. He moved to Los Angeles to take an executive position with National General Theaters, and proceeded to American International Pictures, where he served 20 years as Vice President, Business Affairs. Following his stint at AIP, he held positions with New Century and from 1992-1998, with Roger Corman. Melamed's integrity, leadership, love of family and sense of humor will be missed by all. Memorial was held Tuesday at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills. Donations to: Opica Adult Day Services, 11759 Missouri Avenue, Los Angeles CA 90025.
