Born in Sioux City, Iowa, passed away in San Luis Obispo, Calif. at the age of 89. Dorothy was the daughter of Glenn and Mazie Sylvester. The family moved to the Pasadena, Calif. area in the early 1920's. Her nickname was "Marcheta" as she was known by her family and friends. Her beauty and sense of style was always an inspiration to us all.
Marcheta was preceded in death by her loving husband, Max J. Massanari, his eldest son Gerald J. Massanari and her brother, Allen Sylvester.
She is survived by her daughter Maxine H. Hartley of Avila Beach, Calif., sons Charles G. Massanari (Sue) of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Marc J. Massanari (Susan) of Randolph, New Jersey.
In addition to her 3 children she is survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, James Sylvester of Henderson, Nevada and her sister, Barbara A. Worthington of Riverside, Ca.
Marcheta was dedicated to being a loving wife and mother. Max and Marcheta had a wonderful life together traveling, enjoying life, family and friends. They lived together in Pasadena, Calif., Honolulu, Hawaii and Laguna Beach, Calif. Marcheta has been living with her caring and devoted daughter, Maxine, in Avila Beach for the last 5+ years. Marcheta's faithful and loving little dachshund, Liesel, was always at her side. We will all miss Marcheta very much.
