George LeMaire Obituary

LeMaire, George Michael
August 6, 1935 - April 5, 2011
It is with immeasurable sadness that the family and friends of George Michael LeMaire announce his passing on April 5, 2011.
George who was affectionately known as Unc, Georgie and Uncle George was born on August 6, 1935 in Los Angeles to Sari & Rufus LeMaire, the only son in the family with sisters Gloria and DeeDee.
Although he lost his father at a very young age, he followed Rufus' career path and spent the majority of his professional career in the entertainment industry. George's creative spirit found him involved with developing and launching projects at MGM, Universal Television, Paramount Pictures Television, Lorimar Television and Columbia Pictures. While at Universal Television, George produced Hamlet for Hallmark Hall of Fame, which was awarded an unprecedented five Emmy Awards. During his tenure at Paramount Pictures Television, two Emmys were awarded for his production of The Legend of Lizzie Borden.
After moving on from the entertainment industry, George re-located to the east coast. There he continued to play to his creative side and was the director of marketing for Maxwell's Plum and Tavern-On-The-Green restaurants in New York. On his return to Los Angeles, George worked in marketing and advertising activities at both Carroll & Company and at Holiday Carpet Company. In 1991, while involved with the two latter companies, he found time to start LeMaire??s Affairs which was his greeting card company, and the focus of the cards revolved around the magic he captured between his eye and the camera.
Aside from all of his professional talent, George had a gift for friendship and a generous heart. Whether as a brother, uncle, godfather or life-long friend, George collected many hearts along the way and will always be remembered for his kindness, sensitivity and devotion. He will be remembered by nieces Pam Ferris (Larry), Nancy Rubin (Marshall), Christy Cane, Liz Iliff (Tim), nephew Mark Cane (Lynn), grand nieces and nephews Tara (Mark), Jade, Rachel (Gus), Kelly, Brandon, Jason (Melissa), Jared, Tony (Ashley), Ben, Brian and Adam.
A memorial service will be held at the Beverly Hills Country Club, 3084 Motor Ave, Los Angeles at 3:00 pm on Thursday, June 9.

Hey Unc,
I can't imagine not hearing you say "Hi Neph" in my life anymore. And greeting you with a hug and a kiss was never taken for granted. You were one of the dearest men on the planet and I struggle deeply with your passing. You will always be with me....Mark

To George's family: Living in Virginia, I only saw George at periodic high school class reunions, but always looked forward to his friendly, gentlemanly conversation, sense of humor, and imagination. There are many others who saw him rarely who share warm memories and will miss him
