Helen Novack (Schoel) passed away suddenly on September 24th at her home in Montreal, Canada. She was 89 Years old. A part time resident of Los Angeles, she had homes in Montreal, Hallendale, Florida and Ste Agathe.
Born in Ludin, Poland on March 3, 1923, she immigrated with her older brother Bill when she was 9 years old. Her siblings, Jack, Sarah, Harry and Fanny followed to Montreal, Canada. There she earned a bachelors degree in arts from Sir George Williams University and her Masters degree in library science from McGill University. She served as a librarian for the Jerome Le Royer Library from 1973-1983 when she retired.
She wed Joel Novack, a well known Canadian furrier in 1950. They were married for 46 years until his passing in 1996. They raised four children in Montreal, Canada. She valued knowledge and education and instilled that in her children, all whom have gone on to successful careers.
An accomplished pianist, avid swimmer and health enthusiast she lived life to the fullest. She traveled around the world from China to Israel and touched the lives of those she met along the way. She was known by those who loved her for her sound wisdom and thoughtfulness.
She is survived by her children; Dr. Phillip Novack (Toronto), Dr. Brian Novack (Los Angeles), Martin Novack (Montreal), Deborah Novack-Remer and her husband Aaron Remer (Montreal), also her grandchildren; Sari, Michael, Madison, Aaron, Rachel, Bronte, Joel and Sam.
Shabbat services celebrating her life will be lead by Rabbi David Baron on Friday, October 15th from 8:00 PM ? 10:00 PM at Temple of the Arts, Saban Theatre 8440 Wilshire Blvd in Beverly Hills.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Temple of the Arts, Saban Theatre or The Torino Foundation, a non-profit organization serving critically and terminally ill children and children with special needs. The foundation is located in Las Vegas, Nevada (
