Joanne Agoglia Obituary

Agoglia, Joanne M.
September 3, 1941 - November 18, 2010
Joanne Agoglia, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died after a sudden stroke at her Los Angeles home on Nov. 18th. She was 69.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, on Sept. 3, 1941, the daughter of Anthony and Rose Posillico, she graduated from St. Ephrem's High School before marrying John J. Agoglia on her 20th birthday. Together they had two sons, Anthony and John Steven. After her marriage, she remained active in her community, working with local scout troops and athletic teams, in addition to being a mental-health volunteer in Bergen County, N.J.
In 1979, the family moved to Los Angeles, where she became a founding board member of United Friends of the Children. She was also known for her work with the Children's Burn Center in Encino, along with her efforts as an original board member of the Getty House Foundation. In addition to her philanthropic work, she created an executive placement firm specializing in the legal field.
In later years, she divided her time between her beautiful grandchildren, Steven, Jamie and Tess; her passion for travel; and being the avid leader-host of a highly spirited mahjong group.
A memorial is being planned. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations to be made to United Friends of The Children, www.unitedfriends.org.
