MCAVOY-FORNWALT, Mary-Jon
October 25, 1946 - October 31, 2010
Mary-Jon McAvoy-Fornwalt passed away October 31, 2010 at her home in Huntington Beach, surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Harry C. Fornwalt, Jr., son K. Wayne Greene, daughter Ellen Immergut and son H. Clifford Fornwalt, III.
Mary-Jon was born October 25, 1946 in Queens, New York, and grew up in Lucedale, MS. She is a 1963 graduate of Lucedale High School, attended the University of Mississippi, graduated from Mississippi State University, and earned her Master's Degree at Wright State University in Dayton, OH.
Mary-Jon was dedicated to educating and inspiring youth. She retired in 2008 after a 30- year career, most recently teaching teenagers with psychiatric illness at Fountain Valley High School, helping to set right the paths of many lives. Elected a record three times as president of the District Employees Association, she fought tirelessly to better the professional lives of her colleagues.
A "Celebration of Life" is planned for November.

Mary Jon was a good friend in high school and never changed in later years. I always loved seeing her when the opportunity arrived.. Even though I didn't get to see her often, I will miss her.
