Dr. Melville M. Kirkland passed away on 09/24/10 at West Hills Hospital. Born to Marshall and Elizabeth Kirkland in Patterson, NJ, Melville was preceded in death by his parents.

Melville, a widower, was also preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Lois Marie Kirkland in Dec 1996. Melville and Lois are survived by 3 sons, Melville Jr. and two twins, Sidney and Stephen. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Trinity and Savannah Kirkland and two step-grandchildren, Curtis and Stephanie.

Melville is also survived by his siblings, Virginia Lindsey of Clinton, MD, Vreeland Williams of Ft Myers, FL, and Betty Hardy of Patterson, NJ.

Melville had served in the military as a pilot. Attended Howard University as a medical student and was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Melville had also been active over the years with the YMCA in the San Fernando Valley.

For 35 years, Melville was a physician at Kaiser Permanente in Panorama City. Dedicating his life to helping others. He was a quiet and peaceful man and a loving husband and father. His loss here is only comforted by his new home and life with our Lord and Savior.

Services to be held on Friday, Oct 8, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Marriott in Woodland Hills. For additional information and to RSVP, please email: [email protected] or [email protected].

Donations can be made to Howard University College of Medicine in Washington DC.
